CHILDCARE FUNDING & INFORMATION

Childcare Funding

  • The Kimmelman Scholarship:
  • Childcare Scholarship for Bexar County residents who are low-income, working and/or in college full-time, and US citizens. Must apply in March/April for the following school year. Funded by Temple Beth-El Permanent Charities Fund and United Way of San Antonio & Bexar County.
  • The WAGE (Women Achieving Goals through Education) Program:
  • For low-income single parents, displaced homemakers, single pregnant women, or women in nontraditional career fields who are full-time vocational/technical students and have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Summer 2007 applications are still being accepted. Applications will be accepted beginning July 2nd for the 2007-2008 school year.

Submit your complete application packet, which includes the initialed/signed WAGE Application Process form, the WAGE Application, your typed essay, and all required documents (as stated on the WAGE Application Process form), to NTB 106 or mail to:

Childcare Information

  • Childcare Delivery Services: (CCDS) (246-5200) Childcare assistance for low-income individuals. Call to get on their waiting list. Must be working &/or in school full-time.
  • Parent Child Incorporated: (226-6232) HEAD START for children 3-5 years.
  • Presa Center: (532-5295) Childcare scholarhips available for single parents.
  • Project Quest: (270-4690) For vocational/technical majors only. Pays for tuition, books, transportation, etc. Connects students to CCDS for childcare needs.
  • CHOICES Program: For TANF recipients only.
  • Smart Start: (65-SMART) Assists parents in locating childcare resources. Serves South Texas (800-332-3264).
  • Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services: Provides information on licensed and registered providers in your area that meet your specific needs. You can also obtain a compliance & complaint history on childcare providers via this website.
