About the IIC
OUR MISSION
The St. Philip’s College Instructional Innovation Center (IIC) is dedicated to empowering faculty and staff for success. The IIC provides professional development opportunities for faculty to promote professional growth, quality instruction, and innovative teaching, as well as professional development opportunities to support staff in enhancing their services to students. The mission of the IIC is aligned with the Alamo Community Colleges strategic Goal IV - Capacity to Serve.
Since 1997, the IIC has been collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure they have the support they need to succeed. The IIC has been developing and refining exemplary educational workshops and providing resources and opportunities to help faculty and staff grow. Professional development opportunities are offered in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Technology, and Employee Development.
The IIC fulfills its mission by providing faculty and staff:
- Educational workshops
- Individualized consultations
- Special professional development events
- Instructional equipment checkout services
IIC Achievements
During the Fall 2007 - Summer 2008 semesters, the IIC:
- Held over 140 workshops with over 784 (dup. count) faculty and staff
participants
- Served 74 full-time faculty and 59 adjunct faculty in formal training
- Held over 160 individualized consultations
- Served over 800 requests for instructional equipment
- Coordinated Professional Development weeks at the start of the Fall and Spring
semesters
- Held the Distance Learning Showcase with over 60 participants
- Held the Adjunct Faculty Mini-Conference with over 50 participants
- Held Staff Development Day with over 80 participants
- Held the Administrative Professionals Workshop with over 35 participants
- Provided distance learning training and certification to over 70 faculty
- Staffed an open computer lab for use by faculty & staff
- Provided on-demand assistance to faculty and staff
- Developed customized workshops on request
