Practicum Opportunities
A Practicum must be approved by the Instructor over the Internship.
Responsibilities of the practicum student:
- Assists students, staff, faculty, and community users with computer
hardware/software related problems; demonstrates proper procedures, answers
questions, enforces procedures and ensures security of lab equipment.
- Conducts workshops to teach users various software packages and/or creates informational handouts/templates.
- Maintains lab equipment, troubleshoots problems and performs minor repairs; installs new software and/or equipment. Documents attempts to solve problems.
- Evaluates new software for potential usefulness in labs; makes
recommendations regarding new purchases of hardware/software as requested.
- Maintains inventory of lab supplies and equipment; notifies appropriate
personnel to reorder as needed.
- Inputs user IDs; generates reports and statistics on lab usage; performs
other clerical duties as assigned.
Work Study
The duties of a college work study are essentially the same as those of a
Practicum. For more information on the work study program, refer to the
