These are some of the common questions we often receive. If you have a question that is not answered on this page, call us at 531-4616.

Q: What should I do if my computer will not turn on?
A: Check to see if you computer is getting power; check to see if the power cord on the computer is firmly plugged
in; check to see if the fan on the back of the computer is running. If none of these are the problem, call the SPC
Help Desk (531-4616).
Q: My monitor will not turn on, what should I do?
A: Check to see if your monitor is getting power; check to make sure the power cord is firmly plugged into the
monitor; check to see if the contrast/ brightness is not turned down. If none of these are the problem, call the
SPC Help Desk (531-4616).
Q: Passport, the Internet, and email are not working what should I do?
A: Check the Network Interface Card (NIC) on the back of your computer to see if the patch cable is plugged in and
you have blinking lights. If this isn't the problem, then call the SPC Help Desk (531-4616).
Q: My computer won’t shut down, what should I do?
A: Hold the power button on your computer in until the computer shuts off.

Q: I just moved my computer and now I can’t get the Internet, Passport, or my email, what should I do?
A: Call the SPC Help Desk (531-4616).
Q: Where can I find a CD writer?
A: Most users today have computers with CD and/or DVD Writers. The computers in the labs have at least a CD Burner, however users must provide their own writable CDs.
Q: Where can I find a copy machine?
A: Copy machines can be found in the SPC Library, SLC Third Floor. At the
Southwest Campus they are in building 3020, outside the Copy Center, room B102
and in the main hall of building 3008.
Q: I am a faculty member. Can you come fix my computer?
A: Yes. Call the SPC Help Desk (531-4616).
Q: Does your department have internships?
A: We have practicum students each semester. Check our practicum page for more info.
