Community Patrons

Special library cards will be prepared at the Circulation Desk for community patrons, including public school students and children. Photo identification, preferably a Texas driver's license, is required from community patrons for a library card. Other official photo IDs, such as military or state, are accepted. Children and/or young people (under 18 years of age) require parental or classroom teacher authorization for a library card.

  • ACC Library Catalog This is the combined catalog showing book, audio-visual, and periodical holdings with information for Northwest Vista College LRC (NVC), Palo Alto College LRC (PAC), San Antonio College LRC (SAC), St. Philip's College LRC (SPC) and SouthWest Campus (SWC). The catalog may be accessed from any computer with a Web browser.
  • Electronic Databases are large, updated sets of digitized information on a particular subject or field. Unlike much of the information on the Internet, the information in these subscriptions has been gathered from reliable sources and organized for easy retrieval.
  • Videos - the LRC has over 4,000 specialized and popular titles. These may be checked out for a one week period.
  • Photofact® Electronic Repair Manuals - the library maintains a subscription to schematics for repair and maintenance of televisions, radios, and other electronic devices. These are available for use within the library.
  • Automotive Diagnostic, Repair, and Maintenance Manuals - the library maintains an collection of Chilton, Motor, and other respected publishers of manuals for the automotive Do-It-Yourselfer. These manuals are available to community users in print or in the library.
  • Children's Collection (books and videos) - these items are for preschool up to the pre-teen years. For patron convenience, children's books and videos are shelved near the Children's Room. Items are found using the search S = Children's literature, SPC. Items for pre-teens may be located in the regular stacks using the search S = Young adult literature, SPC.
  • Parents/care givers should feel free to bring their children to our facilities. We are interested in the safety and welfare of children; we expect parents/care givers to abide by our policies regarding children (0-12) and teenagers (13-17) visiting the library. The policies and Junior Patron Form are available at the Circulation Desk. With the SPC LRC Junior library card children/teenagers may borrow two (2) items at a time. Parents must sign a release form before children and teenagers may use the computers. Please Note: In the event of an emergency or unusual situation, all children should have the telephone number of a responsible adult to call.
  • Children's room - located across from the Circulation Desk. This room is for the convenience of our patrons who have young children accompanying them to the LRC. The room has a TV for viewing of the videos, plenty of toys, games, crayons, etc. to keep children occupied so parents may study and research. The LRC does not assume any responsibility for the children and parents are expected to be responsible for their child's behavior in the LRC.
