Library Resources

The Center for Learning Resources is comprised of three service components: the Library, Computer Operations and Media Services. Resources are available to enhance classroom instruction and meet the information needs of students, faculty, staff, and administrators. A large number of resources are available on and off-campus at either the MLK library or the branch library at the Southwest Campus.

  • Anatomical Models-3-D models, charts, and flash cards are available for visual and tactical study of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Assistive Technology for Special Needs
  • Black Collection- A circulating collection of books by or about African Americans. Shelved adjacent to the other circulating collection (Stacks).
  • Circulation Desk Services
  • Computers with MS 2007 and Internet-36 desktop computers are available for public use. Each pc has fast internet access and Microsoft 2007 Office Suite. Printing is available using the GoPrint System.  After the initial purchase of a print card with a $1.00 bill,  the cost is .10 per page for b/w and .50 per page for color.
  • Copy Machines-Four well maintained copiers are available in the library for public use. Letter and legal one-sided copying is .10 per page.
  • Current Magazines and Periodicals- Magazines, journals, and newspapers are available for leisurely and academic pursuits in the library. A comfortable, quiet seating area is available on the first floor of the library. Many of these resources are available in on-line format through the electronic databases.
  • Individual and Group Study Areas- Individual study rooms and group study rooms are available on the 2nd floor of the library on a first-come basis.
  • Full-Text Microfiche- The contents of newspapers, magazines, journals, and books are available in the microfiche or microfilm. A digital microfiche/microfilm reader and printer is available for public use on the first floor of the library.
  • Librarians
  • Music CD's- A wide selection of music compact discs are available for one-week checkout. Music from all categories and eras is included.
  • Reference Instruction- A faculty librarian is available all hours the library is open. the Reference Desk is located directly in front of the entrance to the library. In addition, the Ask-A-Librarian is available 24/7 for research assistance within 24 hours. Chat help is available through Dlibrarianian78203@yahoo.com or Dlibrarian78203@meebo.com.
  • Technical Services -aquisitions/cataloging/processing
  • VHS/DVD Resources- Resources in support of classroom learning and some popular movies are available for one-week loan periods.
