SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 20, 2009) --- St. Philip’s College Automotive Technology and Teacher Education student John Chavez was recognized as May 2009 Alamo Colleges Student of the Month during an Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees meeting.
John maintains a 4.0 grade point average and John has been on the President’s Honors List on three separate occasions.
John has been the recipient of the Firestone/Bridgestone scholarship and the Gunn Automotive Scholarship.
John is vice president of leadership in the Psi Kappa Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at the college.
John was further recognized at the meeting for his academic excellence and perseverance with the presentation of a plaque and a $500 award from the Alamo Colleges.
John plans to transfer to the University of Texas at San Antonio to earn his bachelor's degree in teacher education.
