Accessing Student Services Fees

Student Services Fees are a great resource for student centered programs and activities. Funding requests are accepted from students, student organizations, college committees and/or faculty/staff planning programs/activities/travel specifically for students’ development and/or engagement.

The Process

The Student Services Fee Advisory Committee (SSFAC) meets the 3rd Thursday of each month. Requests must be received in the Department of Student Life by the 1st Thursday of each month. Click Here for the SSF Funding Checklist

Submitting Your Request

  • SSF funding requests are received.
  • The SSFAC members receive a copy of the request (either electronic or hard copy).
  • The committee reviews the request and completes a SSF Ballot.
  • The ballots are tallied and a decision is rendered.

Types of Decisions

  • Unanimous Decisions: If the funding request is approved or denied unanimously, the “packet” is handled accordingly (see "Committee Decisions" below).
  • Split Decisions: Requests are funded by a simple majority vote. However, three of the five students members must vote in favor of a request for an approval. Committee members may request a discussion on the packet. The discussion is then placed on the next committee agenda. Voting is postponed until after the discussion.
  • Discussions: Students, student organizations, etc. should expect to attend the SSFAC meeting following submitting their request. Discussions are held during the last 15 minutes of the SSFAC meetings. Each group will be allotted time according to the number of groups on the agenda. The requesting entity may be asked to submit more information or receive funding with stipulations, etc.

Committees Decision

Students, student organizations, etc. will be notified within one week of the monthly SSFAC meeting of the committee’s decision.

  • If approved, the group will receive instructions and guidelines for using the allocated funds.
  • If denied, the group can appeal the decision to the Director of Student Life.

NOTE: The funding process can take 2 – 6 weeks. Please allow for this amount of time in your planning. The integrity of the process demands consistency and fairness for all requesting access to the Student Services Fees.
