The Turbon Student Center
E. L. Turbon
The student center was named after one of St. Philip’s very own, Mr. Everett
Turbon. Mr. Turbon served the St. Philip’s community for 36 years. During his
tenure, he mentored, guided and helped students achieve their education goals.
In 1984, Mr. Turbon retired having served St. Philip's both as a professor and
the Director of Counseling. He was the longest tenured Alamo Community College
District employee.
The Turbon Student Center is a multi-purpose facility and serves as the focal
point for Student Life at St. Philip's College.
- "Lobby" of the center
student can meet with a tutor, visit with university recruiters, seek employment
opportunities and have access to other products and services.
- "Main
Floor" is the heart of the student center, much like your living room at home.
Students meet with friends, study, relax before & after class and otherwise
"hangout". The feature of this area are the laptop computers. These
computers are designated for personal use. Student are allowed to surf the
internet, check and write e-mail, visit Myspace and perform other "recreational"
tasks. On occasion the Main Floor is the venue for programs, activities
and performances.
- "Vending Area"
houses the drink and snack machines, has a microwave oven is a great place to
read, study or have lunch.
- "Stage" area is reserved
for recreation: billiards, arcade games, dominoes, etc.
- "Pennant Room" is a multi-purpose room.
